Itinerary 2: «  Mont Madres tour » 155km 1 day

Riding lightweight 125cc motorcycles you leave your accomodation at Vernet les Bains and head along the N116 towards Prades. The route then turns off the main road and ascends the Col de Jau (1500m) via the scenic “Tour de Mascara”.

Weaving between the peaks of Madres (2500m) and Pic Dourmidou (1800m) the route explores the picturesque villages and valleys of Roquefort de Sault and Escouloubre. The journey then continues along the D118, the popular route to the winter ski resorts. Lunch is taken “al-fresco” amongst these spectacular mountains where the natural sights and sounds can be absorbed together with like minded souls.

The route then continues taking in Lake Matemale before reaching the fortified World Heritage site Mont Louis (1600m) The returning section follows the winding N116 back down to Vernet Les Bains in time for your evening aperitif on the terrace, with panoramic views of the village and the mountains.
